New Years manicure

So, happy new year! Yes, it’s February… And I did post another manicure a few days ago, but it was and old manicure I did way back in April and just posted it to kick start myself 😉

I know I was all “I’m finally back! bla bla bla…” in December, but it turns out Christmas ended up being pretty busy. Having family visit tends to do that to you. Then I started a new job in January, and you know how it is when you start a new job, it’s exhausting! It’s not as crazy busy as my last job though, so I do think I’ll be able to blog and make videos and all that as well. I just need some time getting into the swing of things again.

And lets talk about the elephant in the room… I GOT ACRYLICS! WHAT?!?! I feel like I’m cheating as a nail blogger getting acrylics… Or so I have felt before, I felt like I had to have strong natural nails, but I have been struggling with my nails the past year, and I’ve gotten so fed up with them breaking all the f*ing time! So I took the plunge. I’ve also been worried a nail tech would mess up my cuticles, buff my natural nails to nothing, not get the shape right and basically just mess everything up. But I’ve been so envious of those long ballerina nails so I decided “F* it, I’m doing it!”.

And I did, and I am SO FREAKING HAPPY I did! I LOVE how they turned out! And my nail tech hardly buffed my natural nails, she did not cut my cuticles and she got the shape PERFECT.

Aren’t they freakin’ gorgeous?! I love the shape and the length, I think they look natural in a “too-perfect-to-be-natural-but-still-natural” kind of way 😉 I would never be able to get my natural nails this long, once they reach a certain length they start curving in weird ways, and I’m so clumsy and bump in to things all the time so they would break way before that anyway. It took some time getting used to not freaking out every time I bumped my hand in to something and worry about my nails breaking. I can’t tell you how many times that has happened, multiple times a day. Now though, I can open my fridge and not worry about my nails breaking!

So yes, I’m happy and I am going to stick with the acrylics for a while 😉

But let’s not forget about the manicure! I used this amazing silver holo polish from H&M called Space Race as my base. Then I used some striping tape and OPI – Lady In Black. On top of the black I used my traditional new years glitter Cirque – XX and sprinkled in some KB Shimmer – I Only Have Ice For You. Holographic and sparkly, perfect for New Years Eve!
